In December 2016, a delivery truck parked in the Builders Group Petersburg, West Virginia facility caught fire. What didn’t burn, sustained total damage from smoke and water. Employee retention was owner, Rob Nestor’s top priority. Working with Allegheny Insurance, Rob was able to restore the business back to pre-loss condition.
Issues
As a local business in a rural region, it was extremely important that Builders Group retain their employees and re-opening was a top priority. In addition, their extensive inventory had sustained smoke and water damage which meant it either needed to be cleaned or replaced to allow for the business to re-open.
Solutions
In an effort to get Builders Group re-opened as soon as possible, Allegheny Insurance suggested a problem-solving measure that saved months of downtime. The insurance company under the guidance of Allegheny Insurance agreed to buy their entire inventory to allow it to be quickly sold and replaced. This meant Builders Group didn’t have to wait months for their inventory to be cleaned and could re-open in a timely manner.
Outcome
Reopening nearly four months after the fire, Builders Group minimized the amount of its business income loss without inconvenience to its patrons.
“The fire just caught me off guard."
